What better time then 4 am to update the blog! Well we added a new family member to our little family. Audrey Jane was born on August 13, 2015. She weighed in at a whopping 6 lbs 14 oz. and was 20 inches long.
For those of you that care about the birth story you can keep reading. If you dont and just want to look at pictures scroll down.
I made it to 39 weeks with Audrey, although I think they miscalculated my due date and I should have been at 38 weeks. But thats ok! I was SOOOOOO over being pregnant! With Q I only made it to 36 weeks, so this was the longest I had been pregnant. I was miserable. I had no energy to chase around Q, I wasn't sleeping very well and I had terrible heart burn. I went to my foot zoner with the soul purpose to put my into labor. She was awesome and while I was there I started having contractions, however these felt different then Q so I wasn't sure if they would stick around. I drove home from my appointment still having twinges of pain but again it didn't feel like my contractions with Q so I ignored them. About an hour after I got home I called Eric and told him he needed to come home immediately. These contractions/twinges were really really painful and I couldn't hide it from Q. Every time I winced he kept asking me what was wrong, and kept petting my head. He is a super sweet little boy. I was trying to brush it off and play with him and laugh so he didn't get too concerned. But i was super relived when Eric got home. He had called his mom who was on her way over, so she could take Q while we went to the hospital. I got him all excited for his fun day at Grandma and Grandpa Dolders house, and he basically ran out the door when she got here.
Eric and I then headed to the hospital, which is about 25 minutes away. At this point I knew I was in labor, it was still feeling different then Q, mostly that it hurt a LOT more. I mean I couldn't talk through the contractions and it was like an intense stabbing pain. Q's contractions were just more annoying then anything. Got to the hosptial, got all hooked up to the monitors, started my IV (in the car I decided I wanted an epidural... I was thinking of trying to go natural but this was really painful). Doctor showed up, said I was dialated to a 3, I knew I dialated fast so she said she would stick around.
Here is where the story gets awful. My epidural took 2 hours to kick in. I'm not sure of all the details, but the anesthiaolgist was trying to get it to work for 2 hours! I almost started crying. At first one of the needles wouldn't push the medicine in, so he had to start all over. Then it was only working in my legs. There were a lot more problems, but I wasn't really aware of them, because my water had broken right before he came in, and I'm pretty sure I passed out. Once my water broke my contractions were continuous. There was only about a 30 second break between each one. I dont really remember the labor aspect very much. I remember being in a ton of pain, and asking why the epidural wasn't working, I then getting really hot and thinking I was going to throw up, so I asked for a fan. At some point I was put on an Oxygen mask that I was told to keep breathing into.
At some point the pain went away, and I was able to relax a little. My doctor rechecked me and said I was now at a 10 and could push whenever I wanted. I however was exhausted from those 2 hours and just wanted to rest. But the baby had other plans, and I couldn't stop the need to push. Thankfully my doctor was still in the room, so when I said I wanted to push she had everything ready to go quick. 2 pushes later Audrey was born. Eric said it was literally a minute and a half of pushing. Remember at this point we still had no clue if she was a boy or girl. We had decided to be suprised so we were super excited to find out. She wasn't breathing when she was born so she was wisked away and Eric didn't get to see if it was a boy or girl, so he went over to where they were checking on her and said it was a girl! Then he was able to hand her to me, cause she was crying at this point, and again, I almost started crying! I knew the instant I held her that her name was going to be Audrey. That wasnt the name I thought we were going to name her, but when I held her it just came to me and I knew she was Audrey.
She has been a super sweet baby ever since. She doesn't cry nearly as much as Q and all I want to do is cuddle her! Q got to meet her on Friday and seemed to like her, although he was more excited to play with his grandmas and grandpas. My mom and dad flew in on Friday and hung out with us.
We were able to go home on Saturday, and my parents took Q to the zoo so we could relax and do nothing once we got home.
